Get ready for a fabulous night of fun and fundraising as AAFS and their guests work for the cause of providing mental health and other assistance to the local Asian American community. The theme this year will be of masquerades, symbolizing the stigma that faced by those suffering from mental illness, especially among Asian Americans.

Hearts of Asia WalkFEST 2010

This is the first event of its type to celebrate the many cultures of Asia as well as to work towards the cause of advancing mental health care and other support for Houston area Asian Americans.

Healthy Divorce, Healthy Kids Parenting Class


Date/Time: Call for the most updated class schedule
Description: In Texas, divorcing parents with children under the age of 18 must complete a 4-hour parenting education and family stabilization course. Since 2000, we have helped hundreds of divorcing parents meet their mandated requirements and at the same time gain valuable insight into the process for creating a healthy divorce through our counseling services and court approved courses – Healthy Divorce, Healthy Kids.

Our course covers a wide range of topics including:

  • the emotional effects of divorce on parents

  • the emotional and behavioral reactions to divorce by young children and adolescents

  • parenting issues relating to the concerns and needs of children at different development stages

  • stress indicators in young children and adolescents

  • conflict management;family stabilization through development of a co-parenting relationship

  • the financial responsibilities of parenting;family violence, spousal abuse, and child abuse and neglect

  • the availability of community services and resources
